I have never heard those terms before in my life, so I don't think most Americans in general use those terms.

My husbands co-workers call him gringo all the time and he is white while they are Mexican. And because he's white he cannot say anything about it being a racial slur against him because the laws against racism do not apply to whites and he would only "rock the boat" and create even more problems. He might even be perceived as racist himself for accusing a non-white of discriminating aginst him and lose his job because of it.They also say to him that being a Christian is stupid and then use the Lords name in vain to get a rise out of him. Most of these people are not even American, they weren't born here and even if they have become legal they don't concider themselves Americans. These people get together in front of him at lunch time at work and bad mouth America and it's people saying Americans are stupid and lazy and then they go back to speaking spanish after my husband has gotten the message. They don't associate themselves with America because they still devote their loyalty to Mexico eventhough Mexico has nothing to do with them and never will.So I'm under the impression that the Americans who are saying these racial slurs are the ignorant American hating migrants and illegals who only want to show their contempt and bitterness they harbor towards a country and it's people who is providing them with opportunities for a much better life than they could ever have had anywhere else in the world.Personally I have never refered to anybody by anything but their name and I am an American. It's just sad that they can't do the same.

Well, I am a Cuban who came to the states at 13. I will try to answer the term "gusano"

gusano- historically, since Castro's regime this term has been given to Cubans that defect, because in Castro's own words and according to him defectors are "worms" who crawl out of the country.

beaners is a term used to refer to Mexicans because in their cuisine beans are a staple food.

spicks (I have heard this for all Hispanics, not just Puerto Ricans) I guess because phonetically it can be difficult for Hispanics to pronounce the word "speak" so this is just a variation on the pronunciation.

I hope this helps

The Puerto Ricans are called Spics, because they can't speak good English or Spanish.
They can't pronounce the " R"
Puelto licans can't plonaunce the R.

----

Cubans are called Gusanos, because they behave like them.
They always slither under the US Right wing and betray their Identity and "Patria" in exchange for green cards.

Mexicans are call beaner, but just the Brown skinned, the white skinned are called Corners or Crackers or Mexican-Gringos.

Yank is a derivative of a Dutch derogatory term for New England "sailing entrepreneurs" (sorta merchant/ pirates) during the colonial period. It is not considered an insult anymore.

The rest is just ways for sad people to make themselves feel superior.

I don't know about the whole world, some guy keeps posting the same answer in Arabic to all questions, guess he thinks we can 't read it, or maybe Al'Qaida has infiltrated Yahoo Answers and they are attempting to spread propaganda against the Americans. Really you should read it.

i imagine it truly is more suitable so the country that the Latin boxers characterize more suitable so than epidermis colour. even as boxers are from diverse international locations they actually characterize that u . s . to the fullest. like you'll listen announcers that decision a Ricky Hatton or David Haye wrestle usually say "The Englishman" even as describing them because they are from the country England, even as you in no way listen a black boxer from the U. S. beings defined as a "black" fighter or a white boxer from the U. S. defined as a "white" fighter because the U. S. could properly be a melting pot of all warring parties, yet even as particular boxers are from Puerto Rico, Mexico, Africa, Panama, etc, it truly is often how they are defined.
