I've talked to some troopers before and ask the same thing... basically they say nothing happens very exciting but a few times a year. Most of the stuff they deal with is minor traffic infractions.

I doubt that the shootout thing happens very often maybe once or twice in an officer's lifetime.... I would think that the hand to hand combat (a bit strong of a characterization probably more like tackling someone would happen once or twice a month) depsite what you see on tv, I also think most dont 'take on the cops' once they are cornered.
Now granted, I dont live in NYC so my guess is from the small town cop I dated in Louisville kentucky (20th or so largest city based on U.S. census)

As often as idiots put them there.
It is an inherently dangerous job, but statistically officers don't come into situations involving gun fights or hand-to-hand "often". They are trained to try and defuse situations before they get out of hand. That said, however, the police are out-numbered by the morons and idiots out there, and bad things do happen.

you're kidding, outstanding? This guy wasn't a terrorist. He replaced right into a occupation criminal without ethical sense. Huckabee has been everywhere in the information explaining his place interior the guy's lengthy background. And no person is conserving him. The shooter replaced into convicted of two crimes without weapon on the age of sixteen and sentenced to 104 years! Huckabee in basic terms commuted his sentence to 40 seven years - greater smart for a toddler of that age and the crimes he had commited. That replaced into 9 years in the past. The Washington State human beings dropped the ball after that. He replaced into out loose looking forward to an ordeal on rape of a sprint lady for crying out loud. hear to the real information earlier you're making up some stupid conspiracy tale.

Every stop is a dangerous situation. Even if the individual stopped is completely safe, you have to step out into traffic, where drunk drivers and maniacs looking to kill a cop have a free shot at you.

Police encounters with criminals depends upon the timings when they chance upon them in the streets or with the community accommodating them. In New York, the enocunter would be everyday because there are many scalawags thereat.
