I wouldn't go as far as analyzing what goes through someones mind since people are so different. Most of the time though, when a guy likes a girl, he simply wants to spend time with her and get to know her better.

If it's love, it's different from lust.
Lust: A Snausage stands up in southern Vienna.
Love: He would and will go to the ends of the earth for her. He'll protect her from any harm. He'll go without sleep. And, as is usually the case, she'll ultimately ignore true love and fall for some clueless doofus, nincum-poopus, infamous puke-ous. She'll have a couple of babies before she realizes her "bad-boy" is just a "bad-boy".
But, then, heartbreak is what makes the world go 'round. I guess. Sucks, don't it?
