I used to get sick only once a year and I take care of myself, but after living in this apartment I've been sick a lot... like right now! I first noticed the mold when I moved my bed away from the wall. There was a lot of black mold on the wall! We called the landlord and he sent someone to clean it and paint over where it was, but it keeps comming back!!! My boyfriend cleans it with bleach. There are also really, really old windows that let in water and have black mold growing in them. It's like they aren't sealed! The other day my boyfriend was cleaning the mold in the windows and I was feeling fine. All of the sudden I got sick. I have a bad sore throat, sneasing, runny nose, and bodyaches. I've been sick for the past 5 days and I know it's from the mold. The landlord is a cheap pr*ck! We know other people who rent from him that claim he's a slumlord. I'm tired of being sickI can't afford to move... Anyone know what I should do?

sorry too here that. if you can move out temp somewhere you had better. if you have to stay in a hotel do it,you will be able to back charge your landlord for any of your expences .even hospital. your landlord is in serious trouble if you have written to him aboutr this problem. document everything, you will be in court soon. you are protected on this so don't worry about money, especially about money. you have bigger issues here like your health. there is no price tag on that but just remember you will only get half of what you ask for in court so double what you want...hehe time for the land lord to pay for all his greed...slumlord dumlord can't afford anymore lord

Have a Health Nurse come into your home and have a look around. Then if the health nurse verifies that the mold is a health hazard, ask her to right up a report on what she observed.
Next step is to have a Health Inspector come in to the home and investigate. Get a copy of this report.
The next step: Get legal advice. It is free through Legal Aid
NOW>>>*Call the land lord and tell him what the health athorities said, show him the reports, and have him pay for a hotel until you find a place to live, or have him find you a clean safe suite to move into.
Legally, he has to.
good luck!

Try O.S.H.A. - I dont want to scare you, but black mold is dangerous. You shouldn't be breathing that stuff - esp if its in your bedroom. Obviously your slum - I mean landlord isnt going to do anything. I would think its against the law for him to rent a place that has black mold. You should check it out, do a little research on your rights and sue the SOB for making you sick. Good Luck with this!

If the mold is growing on the outside of anything where it is expsed to air and sunlight then it is just alergic reactions. If the mold is growing inbetween walls from an old water leak and is black then it is the very very very dangerous mold called stachybotrys or stachy for short. If stachy is present in your apartment you have to leave immediately. In order to find out if that mold in your apartment is stachy you need to call a remediation professional or mold inspector asap!! Your landlord or owner is responsible for that exposure and will be found at fualt. Please email me or i.m. me on yahoo instant messenger if you need help.
God Bless
P.S. If it is Stachy GET OUT NOW

It's seems like you're living in a very unhealthy environment. It looks like it's affecting your health. I suggest you sue the landlord! Or find a new place! Your landlord covering up won't do anything, it's still there.

Shift your electric heater to that area to warm up your place or very bright lamp lighted up when you are around the room.
Molds don't like heat or bright light.
