There's a lot of great ideas out there. However, I need to figure out how to get the money for the deposits?? No one has the kind of money it's going to take to secure a hall. Also, memento ideas are needed. One idea I'm thinking of is individual wine glass charms. Each with the school colors or class colors, then a number as well...or if we can manage it, initials, though that's a LOT of work. We're thinking per table numbers. Plus we're going to include a champagne flute with custom printing on it. Do you think that's enough? I'd love to do a candle and holder as well but that's more wedding or shower. I'm stumped...champagne glass and charm enough?

Just adding this so it's known, this is also a Progeria fund raising benefit, and we only have 5 months to go so there's no point in getting a professional and wasting money on it. I think I MAY look into making a blank address book for people to swap addresses and phone numbers though. :-)

I would say that the charm and the glass are more than enough

I paste this in as a warning to every Q I find with the words "Class Reunion" in it. The DJ ruined my 25th. With luck and planning your 10th will not have the same problem.

The single most important thing you can do to insure a good time is talk to the DJ before hand. The people who never left town and see each other every week at PTA, soccer practice, poker night etc. are going to want to dance. The ones who did leave town and flew 1,500 miles to attend are going to want to talk, and they are not going to want to shout over the music.

The ideal solution, if you can afford it, is to hire two rooms. Unless you are from Beverly Hills High, you won't be able to do that. Having the music "on" for 30 minutes, then off for 30 would be a reasonable compromise. Promise the DJ the same amount of money as if he played all night. Impress upon him the desire of half the audience to talk. Reunions are not the same as dances or concerts. People (some people) want quiet time, to talk. Keep hammering that home to the DJ. If necessary, tattoo it on his forehead backwards and give him a mirror. Appoint a "Quiet time" monitor.

I hear "It was a nice reunion, but the DJ ruined it" a dozen times a year from friends and family.

Just make it informal i would skip the champagne flutes i see so many of those at the thrift store. My hubby's took photos of everyone then put them in an album with their current and high school photo and mailed them to us. We still have that. The charms with the school colors and mascot would be good maybe even a key chain with that. My 10 was formal and it was very expensive so i didn't go. My hubby's 25 was held in Belmont Shore, CA at a little beach club and they had a sail boat to cruise the bay very cool and more like a party everyone could enjoy.

When is the reunion? This summer? See if you can get the gym at your school for the function or maybe have a reunion under the stars and have it on the football field.

You might want to check into wine glasses instead - they are usually cheaper. You can leave the charms off and have the wine glasses engraved for about $1.50 each.

I have several ideas, if you are interested feel free to email me at christinalynn78@yahoo.com
