of course to some. It's a personal choice to lose one's virginity and keeping it inctact may represent religious or moral values. Condoms are 99% effective, but that 1% may still have a strong infleunce over people's feelings toward sex. Sex is still a large social taboo so many people may not even be interested in talking about it- especially women in comaprison to men.

I too am confused about the connection of condoms and losing one's virginity.
The decision to lose your virginity should be an important one, and using a condom for safe sex purposes should absolutely be a must. But, they are not connected.
A woman's choice to have sex for the first time is based on a number of things, things only she knows.
Using condoms during sex are for protection against disease and to prevent unwanted pregnancies. They cannot prevent breaking a hymen, so they cannot prevent a woman from losing her virginity.
So, I am still at a loss with trying to be helpful here. Unless I have in some way?

In actuality, virginity is now much less important than in the past. You pretty well hit the nail on the head by identifying STDs as the main reason for remaining a virgin in the past.

I guess the religious folk have their own reasons.

Even with condoms, you can still get HPV, herpes, and molluscum. However, none of these STDs are life threatening - unless you get really depressed about having them.

I dont see why it still wouldnt be important for the women..even if you use a condom she still looses her virginity. A condom is just being safe..with the right morale values she would still be a virgin.

it is very important, if you were looking for a wife, someone to share everything with, wouldn't you want a virgin? i don't know too many men that want a girl/woman that has slept around with everyone they meet on the street. wouldn't you like knowing that she only "knew" YOU THAT WAY?
