If you are talking about Bill Gates, you're half correct with the "bugged product" half. First of all, he has the idea to make Windows, which is more successful than Mac. Second of all, updates like Vista and more hard drive make people buy his products. And lastly, they keep on improving. So what was once a "bugged product" could become a "successful product".

What has success got to do with selling a quality top notch product ?
Look at McDonald's ....

Personally, I think we just like to bash the biggest.
Microsoft has done more for the IT industry than a lot of people care to admit.

And Bill .... has donated more money to charitable causes than anyone else in history....
.... give him a break.

Unless there is someone who can claim perfection let's not demand it from others.

Philip T

Follow William 'Bill' Gates' example: Microsoft. His secret is really marketing, not creativity (like Windows is a copy of Mac). That's exactly what he did with DOS (it wasn't even his own program - he was/is a programmer, you know - Microsoft bought it) - and look who is the richest man on earth right now!

According to my studies on economics, when a company has a monopoly on a market, the consumer will have no other choice but to use their product.

A perfect example is when John D. Rockerfeller, an oil tycoon, drove out his competitors out of business, then he hike the prices of oil up very very high.

Microsoft did the same thing, they drove out their competitors using better business model, then just using monopoly to force the comsumer to only use his product, and no one elses.

Microsoft does not have to worry that their product is shoddy, because they already have a monopoly on the market.

according to the link below

"Microsoft is ahead because their products are superior

Microsoft's products are generally not superior. As an example, Windows is more bloated, much less stable, less secure, much more expensive, and lacking much of the capabilities of Linux, one of its competing operating systems. The real reason that Microsoft is ahead is that their marketing is superior and because they leverage their existing market share to keep consumers locked into Microsoft specific solutions. "

I am glad to be answering your question in firefox.

When a consumer doesn't have a choice then it's easy. Windows is easy for everybody to learn, and it's the only thing that is semi-easy to comprehend, so people buy it! Plus BG is one smart business man, no doubt! Ruthless in fact! We are all suckers for an easy solutio to our computing needs. Bill saw this and filled that need--with buggy operating systems--but an OS none the less.

The original Microsoft Word and Excel were pretty good. Everything has gone downhill from that. Everyone should have jumped ship and gone with the Mac but it is too late now.
