Depends on who you saw.... if you simply saw the PA (physician assistant) then they probably will break open. But the bigger concern here is the fact that you underwent a skin biopsy. Alopecia Areata shows a very characteristic pattern that can be seen on the scalp with the naked eye. Most hair disorders can be diagnosed by examination of a strand of hair without any need for a biopsy. I hope you had some of these tests done before they took a biopsy... but the PA's need to get paid, so they likely just did an unnecessary procedure. I apologize for the way some of my colleagues are running their practices and giving the rest of us a bad name. Next time you go to your dermatologist you should demand to see the doctor and not the PA. The greater the number of PA's at an office, the further you should run from that office.
good luck!
Your Friendly Dermatologist.

Yes they can, just dont play with the stitches!!
I have had stitches on on my face and on my body (rugby player).
It is going to be difficult with having to shower. The best thing would be not to shower for a few days. Then maybe 3 days before the stiches, wet your hair a bit.
I once had stitches on my hand and got it wet too soon and they got a little infected, the strange thing was that the infection made it easy to remove the stitches.

I hope it all works out well for you, try using something to help the stitches heal quicker, check out something called Repcillin in Yahoo Stores. It is good for broken or damaged skin.

Alot of it depends on what kind of suture material was used.
I'm actually surprised that they didn't use staples which is what they normally do theses days.
If it is a plastic fishing line looking stuff, the knot in the suture can come loose and you could lose your stitch easily.
If it is a black thread looking suture, they hold their knots better and you will be safer.
Actually depending on the size of the biopsy they took, you could fesibly make it without the suture in a couple of days even if it does come out.
If it does come out and your scalp hasn't started to heal,go to Wal Mart and get either Butterfly bandages or Steri Strips and you can take it back closed.(Course you will have to shave around the spot so you cah get more scalp for the bandages to adhere to)

Ouch. I'm going to have to get a biopsy on my scalp comming up soon too. Since it is basically just skin and fat layer it should heal up pretty quickly. For the first day to two day be careful with it since cuts on the head can bleed a lot even if pretty small if it busts open. I'd wear a cap or something to protect it from scraping on something while you sleep. And to protect your pillow in case it oozes a little or something. hope this helps a little

I'm not sure of the procedure you had, but I had a surgery and had small stitches in my leg and my wound opened a few hours later while I was still in the hospital and I had nurses on top of me frantically trying to stop the bleeding. This was only hours later, though, so....

I think after a day or two you're out of the ballpark. If you're really worried, call your doctor and he can tell you for sure, because our procedures don't sound the same at all....

i grew to become into sore for various weeks and felt swollen on occasion for some months. Doing Kegals helped me lots! Do them 25 circumstances (settlement 6 sec. launch 6 sec.) three times an afternoon. artwork as much as 150 circumstances three times an afternoon including 25 a week. i'm 8 a million/2 months pp and that helped with incontinence and different issues. i think generic now and have for various months. As for bleeding better than different circumstances, it may be generic, or it may be an illustration which you're doing too lots. attempt laying down extra. you'll be able to bleed extra upon getting up from sitting down. as long because of the fact the bleeding isn't great heavy do no longer difficulty. you're in user-friendly terms a million week pp. that is going to go away in some weeks!

Yes they can! Depeneding on what you do. Did they give you any instructions as to what they didn't want you to do, like brush your hair or wash it. Usually they can start to come out as soon as 3 days or so. Just be really careful. They should be there for about a week. Sometimes if they are dissolveable, they tend to fall out sooner than the ones that the doctor has to remove.
