If you have to choose..make it post workout.

There's about a 2 hour open period after your workout where your body and muscles absorbs nutrients the best. Drinking the protein shake will replenish your muscles and promote growth.

So drink the protein shake a minimum of 30 min after a workout...eat a meal a minimum of 2 hours after workout

Although your muscles are most ready to absorb protein within the first hour or 2 after a workout, it takes over 2 hours to digest protein and break it down into the amino acids. Therefore, I recommend eating protein before working out.

if u dont eat a lot of protein then before and after a workout
i would say drink it 5 minutes before a workout session and then again after a workout session workout session about(1 hour)
