Yes, if your scanner software includes OCR "Optical Character Recognition". Choose OCR before you do the document scan and it should convert most of the text.

Then, proof read to ensure that the OCR software didn't guess some of the words incorrectly.

My new Canon scanner does a great job.

my scanner can scan typed papers and convert it to a txt or rtf document it works great and can save a lot of time
