starting clicker training?

Ok i have read a little on clicker training but i was wondering how do u start? How do u associate the clicker with something good? just wanna make sure i do it right. Any other info on this method with be really helpful!!

When I took my puppy to training class they used that method. They started with something simple...learning their name.

We would have them on a leash, small pieces of treats in one hand and a clicker in the other. We would say their name and the second we said their name and they looked at us we'd click the clicker and give them a treat.

Main thing is when using the clicker you have to be quick. The second your puppy does what you want him to, click it and then reward him.

you pick a thing that you want the dog to do. like lift a foot you have a leash on the dog and you tilt it to one side a little and click the foot moving off the ground a little bit. i think there is a book on clicker training. also check in your area where you live and see if there is a trainer in your area. if you dog does soomething that you think that is cute. try clicking on it every time you see the dog do it.
