Ok, I have a friend who is almost 18, and he has a girlfriend that is 16. They live in Ohio, so there may be a law about this, but answers can help. He wants to know if this relationship can continue, or if they will have to break up. Both have agreed to remain virgins until marriage, so there will be no sexual relations of the sort. Mearly a regular relationship between a man and woman. They both love each other, but will keep their word on the sexual matter. Is this a legal relationship after he turns 18 years old?

A lot of it depends on how her parents feel about it. They can have you charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Oh, and to the answerer who said his girlfriend is 12. Under Ohio law that is RAPE no matter what she and her parents say. A 12 year old is not old enough to consent to anything sexual in Ohio. Felony and prison prison prison.

you know what these relationship laws are getting rediculous. It's only a 2 year differnece I saw a man around 70 making out with a woman no older than 30 outside a store once. If that's no big deal than they shouldn't have anything to worry about. If they both love eachother who cares if they have sex when ones 18 and the others 16.

I think as long as there is no sex, it doesn't matter. Even if there is sex, as long as nobody reports it to the cops, they're fine. If they're in love, why would they break up over this? Do they know how many thousands of people in each city are like that? I'm 16 and I've dated older than that.

"No person who is eighteen years of age or older shall engage in sexual conduct with another, who is not the spouse of the offender, when the offender knows the other person is thirteen years of age or older but less than sixteen years of age, or the offender is reckless in that regard. "

Looks like 16 is the age of consent in Ohio...so you (your friend) should be safe.

You can keep the friendship as long as you will not have a sexual relationship with this guy.

yes its fine. and if they do end up having sex...your friend can be charged with statutory rape if this chick says anything b/c she is underage. but as long as they dont...then i'd say they're fine!
