I was hoping it would be healed by now but it's definitely not. I've been using the proper soap twice a day and salt water 2x/day regularly. Am I doing something wrong? Is there anything I can do otherwise to help? I was hoping I'd be able to change to a smaller ring by now but I was told I shouldn't do that until this is fully healed.

Your best bet is to let it heal. because if you are using to much salt it's not good. are you washing your mouth out with soap or the ring. if its the ring stop using soap and soak it in peroxide. rinse it with warm water. then once your lip heal try a smaller ring to start

It is definitely infected and do visit the doctor.
Once healed then get another piercing on another location.
Maybe the lip area for you is not hygenic due to your food intake or other activities you indulge in.
Nose or eyebrow areas are much more nicer but you can't beat ear rings!
Take care Beautiful !

did the piercer make you sign any papers? Did the piercer use sterilized or unused equipment? Is the piercer credible? If you answer no to any of these questions, you better see a doctor.Quick. the cut could infect you, and you could end up with something you never planned on having.

well, getting lip pierced (which by the way is a muscle and not meant to be pierced, you wouldn't pierce your arm would you?) isn't normal so healing may take a long long time.
