PATTERSON'S HAND SPEED WOULD RANK HIM IN THE TOP TEN IN THAT DEPARTMENT IN THE HY WY DIV.

No. The only comparable area they were equal in was the number of hands each fighter had (2 each), Ali was superior in all other comparable aspects. Maybe you could make an argument that Patterson punched harder, but it would be a hard argument to win outright.

In his prime Patterson had very quick hands, probably over a short time span in a fight as fast as Ali. However having fast hands is only the minor part of the equation. You have also got to be accurate and NO ONE was both as fast and as accurate in single punches and combinations as a heavyweight as Ali. Plus he would still be throwing fast and accurate combinations in the Championship rounds if needed

He is in a class of his own

Floud Patterson had very good hand speed. Of course you could compare his hand speed to that of Ali's, but I think Ali is not only fast, he is also accurate. Some people just throw quick punches without being accurate. That will just blow their stamina.

NO WAY... Ali was the untouchable, incomparable speed machine!! You think this chump, Floyd, can be faster than the man who's motto was "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee"? Heck, Patterson's name doesn't even deserve to be talked about in the same sentence as the all-time best boxer of all time... in any sense of the word!!

So to answer your question... NO!!

Yes. Floyd was very quick. Not a lot else, but very quick for a heavyweight.
