How would anyone know if they did or not? It's like asking "Has any alive today seen first hand how the Egyptians build the pyramids?"

The Brits weren't here to make that observation. The indegineous people wouldn't know either because they wouldn't have to the time to sit and observe if any roos can box or not. They would be busy hunting the roos coz it was food to them.

But I guess they probably couldn't. There were no boxing gloves available in Australia before the British arrive.

Bucks, or male kangaroos, aren't much for fighting to protect the herd -- when trouble comes, the whole herd scatters off in all directions! But when it comes to breeding rights, bucks KICKBOX! The two opponents clasp arms and try to kick each other in the belly!
OR
Facing danger these animals usually scatter around trying to save themselves. Although when the period of mating comes, the males become very aggressive and they are competing for females. These fights are very dramatic as the males grip each other tightly with their large fore claws and wrestle each other while balancing themselves on their tails.
OR
To establish dominance over other males, male kangaroos box with each other to gain favourable mating rights with their female partners. Come on over, Mike Tyson...

No one had to teach them how to box.
