I recently moved into a house that had cats in it and even after vacuuming and shampooing the carpets, There is still hair and I have severe allergic reactions.

Try having the air vents cleaned out. There could be a lot of left over cat hair in there and every time the heat/fan comes on, it blows more out into the house.

take up the carpets...it's imbedded in the pad now and will haunt you till you take the carpets out...
