We have been at war with radical Islam since Iran took our embassy people hostage during the Carter administration. We chose to ignore this disease known as international terrorism for decades. We finally realized that we are at war after the attack on 9/11. The only reason it ended up in Iraq right now is Saddam overplayed his hand. He would still be in power if he had cooperated with the UN inspectors. He liked making everyone believe he had horrible weapons. After 9/11 we could not take the chance that he did and might provide the technology to terrorists. Since we were still at war with Iraq since Dessert Storm, we took the opportunity to take out his perceived threat.
The terror supporting countries in the region realize the threat to them that a Free Iraq would pose, have been supporting the insurgency with money, sophisticated weapons, people and training. The disease of fundamentalist Islam tyranny cannot abide the cure that liberty brings to the long suffering people of the Middle East. This is going to be a long, ugly war. Make no mistake, Iraq is just the beginning. If we blow this opportunity to wipe out this enemy the battlefield will move to Europe, North America and Central America.

I am very thankful we are in Iraq. I am one who believes that this world doesn't buy into liberal thinking and flowery thoughts of peace.
I would love if in reality the rest of the world thought that way but everybody knows they don't.
Iran for example is very oppressive to women and you have a lot less rights in Iran. Same thing in China where even a thing like Yahoo answers is illegal and they wont allow you to use it in China as the goverment strictly regulates the Internet so nobody talks bad about the government.
When I meet people in the United States that actually live here and were born citizens, they tend to be spoiled and ungrateful.
I would love to take them to a trip to China where if you are middle class you can live in a small small apartment and eat small amounts of food and work very long hours.
Or places like Iran where women are treated one step above dogs and you dare can't be an activist Christian.
Because when they come back home to America they would kiss the very dirt of America.
Usually folks that put America down haven't traveled around the world but live in a little fish bowl of protection where they can actually put down the country they talk bad about.
It also is funny too how people that put down America and talk bad about Democracy or mostly UnGodly and don't believe in the bible. They tend to be Godless and very sinful.
Yet the ones that appreciate America and its belief in God tend to have more common sense.
One can't even read the Constitution without reading what America is founded on.
So it is a scam that folks say they believe in Democracy yet they do not want to spread it by military might, politics, religion or whatever.
Everybody on the planet is pushing "their views", the one that pushes the most wins.
I saw we push Democracy more and more and hopefully we'll be in Iran next.

I would not call the war in Iraq a scam but i also don't believe we are there to just protect their government and fight terrorists. and not oil either. Because who in there right mind would keep troops in Iraq that long to die like that.

In the sense that were there to supposedly spread democracy, that is a bald faced lie and a scam. All one has to do is look at how many times Bush has changed the name of the war to figure that out. Were there to spread imperialism.

I spent a 300 and sixty 5 days working in Baghdad and had the possibility to speak with many Iraqis approximately this. they are very grateful for what we are attempting to do there. they have greater freedom now than they have had interior the final a hundred years. we are fixing there infrastructure, water, electrical energy and sewage structures. did you be responsive to that earlier we went there that they had electrical energy 4 hours on, 4 hours off, on a daily basis? and a few sewer structures have been purely an open ditch to a river? supply up repeating issues you hear and check out to form your guy or woman opinion. grow to be advised.

Scam: A ploy by a shyster to raise money.
I don't think the US is trying to raise money, we are spending it like crazy. We are not there for oil or anything else. We are there to help Iraq in their transition after we killed Saddam and overthrew his murdering governemnt. 180000 dead kurds prove this is true.
No WMD's in Iraq? Every hear of a bullet?

Until I saw your question that thought had never entered my head................;-)
How eloquently you describe the American President of the days' reason for sending thousands of young lives to invade a country and return home in body bags without knowing why they were really there.
