Tell him since when has he become an expert makeup artist? Tell him you will choose what lipstick you wear and you don't appreciate him criticizing you. But, if I were you, take a look at your lipsticks and discard the real dark ones, because they are very harsh looking on most people. The style is now is a soft natural look which includes, makeup/blush/lipstick/lipgloss and even eye makeup. Go to any drugstore and look at some lovely peachy/pink shades or salmon colored shades, and then buy a lovely light lipgloss. Lipstick on first, and lipgloss over it. Wear it when you are with him, and if he comments in a complimentary way, just say thank you and that's it. Don't let him know you changed your lipstick color because of his comments to you. I wouldn't give him the satisfaction. Best of Luck

Wha???? That is so weird. Who is he Carson Kressley??? What man would even notice lipstick color let alone suggest that he be the one who picks it out.
Honestly, this past summer at my BF's wedding, we sent my husband out on an errand to get a few things and one of the things he was supposed to pick up was nail polish, he came back with a tube of lipstick. Normal men dont know what make-up is.
This would seriously be a red flag of some underlying problem, whether it be a masculinity issue or a weird control issue. I would rethink this relationship.
ETA:I just asked my husband if he knew what make-up is and his answer was, and I quote exactly "Its like wood, stuff you make out of a tray right?" to which I had a hysterical lauging fit and he reanswered that he thought it was seaweed or something natural that they mash down. This I would imagine is what any normal man would answer to this question. Oh man, that was a good laugh!

Quick! Make like a fox and run for your life!
This guy sounds like he wants to control you!
Find someone else!
A real boyfriend would have said that maybe a different shade of lipstick might be better, or shut up! (but in a nice way)

Watch out he's a control freak next he will be telling you to wear, what to drink and will take over your bank account. Tell him to mind his own business and when he goes into a sulk find someone else who will let you have an opinion. (Ps I'm a bloke and he is acontrol freak) Next time he says anything stick your lipstick up his nose.

Just tell him whatever. Tell him to buy you some and you'll wear it. Still wear the kind you like too. I never heard of a man who is so into lipstick.

Tell him, that if that is the case, just to make things even, you are going to choose the cologne, deodarant, soap, razor that he uses (anything personal) and see how he likes it. If he is controlling now, imagine how he will be when you get married. All the best!!

do you hear the bell going off in your head!!!! its telling you this is not a good idea!! and if you do this get ready to be told what to wear who to talk to what to eat when to eat ...etc! this is your chance to listen to your gut to not make a mistake! yes it will hurt but you will live and find someone else but this is why 50% of marriages fail because people don't listen to that voice in their head telling them that something maybe a bad idea!! just remember this is life there is no do overs...just divorce and that's where this can and will end up!

This is so random that I don't know if it should be taken seriously. It's weird. Unless he was obviously joking, it might not be a red flag that he's controlling, but it's definitely a red flag that he's weird and/or crazy. Think about this before you make a decision.

tell him that if he wants to choose your lipstick color, it is only fair that you pick out a lip stick color for him.
Since when do guys care about makeup? He's either controlling or is into makeup - neither are healthy in a marriage.

I'd accept suggestions but I won't accept someone out & out choosing for me.....far too independant for that I'm afraid......a gift is different...but when I choose a gift for someone else I always give the option that it can be exchanged without me getting offended......
He might be telling you what to wear next.....& I wouldn't be having that either.....
& then who knows....maybe what to think....?
