Much pain is from muscles below is an example of what may help (based on headaches).
Begin with a couple swigs of molasses or a couple of bananas (natural muscle relaxers) daily - magnesium (which regulates many things in the body) and potassium (a needed building block for muscles).
Drink at least 1/2 gallons of water per day. Running a body low on water is like running a car low on oil is the analogy the head of neurology at UCDavis told my husband about 10 years ago.
Now to the cause - muscles - your back, neck shoulders and head have tender spots. They are knots in the fibers of the muscles called trigger points. It makes the muscles tight which makes them press on nerves and other things causing the pain.
The cure - start with a professional massage, (if this does not do it you probably need a chiropractor as well) you will also want to go back over any place you can get to 6-12 times per session up to 6 times per day rubbing (or lightly scratching on your head) every where that is tender until the knots go away. The place where the skull connects to the spine press up under the edge of the skull (to get to those muscles).
For more information read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It teaches what to do and where the pain comes from.

If it is what you would describe as "the worst headache of your life" you might want to go to the ER and have it checked out. It could be a sign of a clot in the venous system of your brain known as a sagital sinus thrombosis, especially if it is in the back of your head. If you have had these types of headaches before its probably not that and it looks like there are a host of good answers on how to handle a tension headache . Good Luck!

An occupational therapist told me about this. It works for me when I wake up with a headache.
Drink a bottle of water.
Have someone (I do it myself if no one is around) hold up one finger in the upper edge of your vision field. Focus your eyes on it. Move the finger slowly diagonally to the opposite lower edge of your vision field. Move only your eyes and not your head.
You should feel instant response by your head hurting less. Do it a couple of times or until your headache is better.

try ( I think its by tylenol) migraine or the one for tension headaches... I have imitrex shots for my headaches but you have to get that from the doctor... try cold compress on the back of your neck also.. and my headaches were always worse when I layed flat so try elevating your head with a pillow and sleep slightly sitting up... hope you feel better fast...

Strong cup of coffee, maybe 2. It causes vasoconstriction and stops the throbbing of a vascular headache.
