Hi guys ;-), new to the site and have a question about toning..I have been running now for about 2months and have worked my way up to 1 hr sessions and have lost a couple of kgs. But now I want to tone my legs -what's the best way to do this? doing a lot of hill work as well as a long run or two during the week? squats?

Running will help tone those legs, but if you want do to more, you could do weight lifting. Squats are good, but I find them a pain, a lot of people like them though.

Just remember, for lifting weights, to tone you can use lighter weights with more reps - you wont bulk up, just strengthen the muscles and get leaner

Squats are excellent for toning the legs. Believe it or not, it'll actually help your run times too. Other leg exercises include leg presses, extensions, stiff legged deadlifts, leg curls and lunges. If you do incorporate strength training, I suggest doing these on alternate days for best results. Upper body strength training will help lots too.

One thing to think about is mixing up your running. Instead of mostly doing one long run each time, try doing interval training once a week, hills once a week, and a shorter fast "race pace" run once a week. You'll be amazed at how this improves things too.
