an easy answer... The best way to tune your body so to speak....is to eat healthy. Look up the "food pyramid" for proper eating portions and servings. If you have any question email me through "answers".

This is a normal concern many women have about lifting weights that happens to be unfounded. It's VERY hard for women to gain muscle bulk, even when lifting heavy weights. This is because women lack the testosterone levels needed to gain a lot of lean muscle. The bodybuilding women you see that do look rather manly all take steroids and other andro products.

You should hit the weights and see how your body responds. You'll find some parts respond faster than others. I seriously doubt you'll have a problem looking manly, but if you do simply lower the weights and increase reps. Thing is, if you don't add enough resistance to challenge you, you won't tone up much. Also, too many reps utilizes the muscle fibers that deal with cardio, and these muscle types won't grow much. Generally, these come in to play around 15 reps of an exercise.

Good luck!

Avoid swimming, chest and upper arms exercises, these exercises make you look like man.

Do more abds and legs exercises. Yoga is very good on toning your body, it helps strengthen your muscles and internal organs. It also refresh your the body and mind at the same time.

You may also try dancing classes as well. Dancing can improve your co-ordination, flexibility and tone your body. Surely, it won't make you look like man.

Pilates, yoga or a combination of the two. Both promote the long lean toned look your speaking of, rather than the bulky muscle-bound look.

edit:

Support Spears is right-on about the hula hoop... and the best bit is it tones almost all of the areas us women have problems with, namely abdomen, hips, thighs, love-handles, and butt! And it's fun!

For arms, believe it or not, crutches work wonders, if you happen to have a pair lying around. Just mind your balance, bend your legs and let your arms and abs do all the work.

And my personal favorite... sex. Of course this one doesn't work if you 'just lie there'... but if you get into it, you'll help tone your butt, hips, thighs, abs, and arms too, depending on the position. ;)

Toning your female body will not make you look like a man, no matter how hard you try. Its all in the hair, the attitude and the sexual orientation. Just do it!

I think that too. I live working out, but I dont want to look like a man, but be girly muscular. Like my excersise coach says use light weights so you wont work your muscles like men do.
