Sounds Like you have TMJ problems, seek advise from an oral surgeon. You'll need x-rays of the joint and discuss what caused it. A car accident, any type surgery, stress, clinching even an overbite. Take ibuprofen for the pain.

It very well could be tmj (temporomandibular joint disorder) which is jaw pain from there being a misalignment. I had received physical therapy (pt) from a pt (need referral from doctor or dentist) who had several patients with tmj. He did manual therapy on my jaw, received ultrasound, and I did posture exercises. How about until you go to your dentist, that you eat soft foods such as pudding, jello, plain mashed potatoes. If and when you decide to take ibuprofin such as advil or motrin, please do so After eating food as to help prevent stomach irritation or ulcers.
I also went to a dentist that the pt knew that evaluated my jaw and such and made me a night guard (wasn't cheap but well worth it as opposed to ones from the drug store). The combination of the therapy and night guard really helped the tmj. Perhaps you can find out more about that. And the dentist can also take x-rays to rule out an abscessed tooth. You should get some answers soon. Good luck!

I'm a dentist.
It sounds like you have TMD (temporomandibular joint dysfunction). Your symptoms are normal for this condition.
Although it depends on the history of your problem as well as clinical findings, it sounds as though you'll need some sort of treatment for it.
Often, an occlusal guard is attempted first because its simple, relatively low-cost, and completely reversible (unlike surgery). Moreover, it often helps.
Many years ago, as I understand it, a case like yours might have called for surgery. Now, oral surgeons are much more conservative when it comes to operating on the TMJ. Nonetheless, if occlusal guard therapy doesn't help, surgery may be considered if the problem might be helped by it.
Good luck.

I had the same thing it is definately TMJ. You need to see a dentist. Soemtimes an anti-inflamatory (advil) and heat can help to ease some of the pain.
Stay away from hard candy, gum, apples anything that is difficult to chew or that takes a lot of effort to bite into as well.

Get yourself into a dentist fast, because it sounds like you are getting a complaint called lockjaw. Its where your jaws lock up and you can't move them to talk or eat. It can be very serious, but in this day and age I'm sure there is a lot more they can do for you than they could in the old days.
