That's the thing about a multi-faith forum. You are going to be exposed to other people's beliefs. And some believe in 'throwing' religion at people.

As for 'quoting from the Bible', I seem to remember that Jesus commanded his followers to spread his message. So I guess they are just doing as they were instructed. And since the Bible is their frame of reference, that's what they use.

As a Buddhist no doubt you too follow the instructions of the founder of Buddhism. Such as Right Speech, Right Mindedness and Right Understanding. No?

And of course, his greatest teaching. "Be Excellent to Each Other".

Well PROBABLY because that's what this is all about in this forum. You are a representative of your beliefs in here. Your not asking for what Americans think or Europeans think. Your asking what people in this forum think. If there is a christian here, the most natural thing in the world for a christian to do is to post from the Bible. That is what we consider authoritative. Yoe ARE here voluntarily so it can hardly be considered "shoving it down your throat" if you ask a question and we respond according to our beliefs.

because the bible can be used to 'back-up' whatever idiotic view is popular at the time and make it sound credible (at least to the people who are doing the quoting).

Irishcharmer has it right, this catagory isn't just for christians with their bibles, it's for everyone who believes in (or has a question about) all things spiritual

Im sorry, but as long as Satan is the ruler of this world religions and beliefs will argue and fight...I suggest if you feel that way don't go under the Religion section of Yahoo answers, becuase there is more of that here, than I've heard in religious debates.

I totally agree... Good question. I'm going to give you a big shiney star.

Excuse me people, but this isn't the religion section, it's the religion and spirituality section. Ergo, vis a vis, beliefs falling outside the remit of christianity are included, and sometimes, as shocking as it may seem, may not actually concern christianity!!!

I'm a Catholic, not a particularly good one mind, but it does get frustrating.

The only reason we answer questions here about God is because atheists and idol worshippers ask a question about Him...What do you want us to do?..answer about football.

This is the R+S section. It is open to all. I may not like what I read from others, but I respect their right to post as long as it isn't insulting, or nasty language.

While I'm agnostic, I would opine that your English teachers had little impact on your communication skills.

Interesting mental picture though, of god pushing down your throat all the time.

Read the list of this silly girl's questions. Don't you have anything better to do??
If you are going to be Buddhist, learn to spell the name of your philosophy.... many educated Buddhists DO consider it a religion.
