Okay, some of elements of my question need to be clarified. I understand what deviancy, I am in legal studies so I fully understand the capacity of the question but what I am asking is do you believe that is falls into the spectrum of bio-psycho-social?

I do not believe it is one, or the other.
It is a combination of the two.

First of all, you need to define or at least understand that "criminal" deviancy is a matter of culture, geography, and mostly, the era in which one is born. Every crime ever committed has once been legal, and every thing legal has once been a crime. Deviancy is not to be confused with sociopathological behavior, e.g., cold blooded murder, torture, senseless disregard for the feelings of others, etc... (Such behavior is rare, anyway). Property crime is also a confusing term you use for deviant behavior since many highly successful people in politics and law have twisted or persuaded others through powerful networks that the rich and powerful will always control the laws in regards to what is "rightfully" theirs. Maybe you are talking about the "free spirit" or the "black sheep"; the person who for a myriad of reasons, just consistently fails in going along with the team and accepting what Others want to label them as.

We have an older daughter who seems to be self-destructive to the point of being deviant. She ran away from home at 18 but we had many problems with her since being a toddler. Was it our fault, well maybe had we been better educated, it would have helped, but we believe there is mental illness and that as a parent is hard to accept as you always want to fix and make things better, spare your child any hurt. Our other two kids, high achievers. Not sure about nature vs. nurture, what works for one child may not for another....my thoughts, hope they make sense, thanks for asking and i'll be looking to see what other people think, may help educate me.

I know people from all walks of life who are addicted to all sorts of things. I also know all sort of people who are dishonest and criminally inclined. Has it ever occurred to anyone that some people are just bad?
