RE:
Did Dale Earnhardt ever drive a Ford Torino.?
I have a book with a picture of a mid-70's ford torino with Cardinal Tractor Co. as the sponsor and Dale Earnhardt's signature on the roof.

I know that Dale Earnhardt Sr drove a Ford at one point in his career. He won three races in the 1982-1983 Nascar season in a Ford, and I'm very sure (about 95%) that Dale Sr drove a Ford Thunderbird to victory, which of course was before he found his home in RCR and behind a wheel of a Chevy. I'm sure that if you research it enough you will find it. I'm a huge racing fan, how I know this answer is beyond me, I was only 2 years old when he drove one, but I do know he won races with a ford, (I'm a 100% sure on the ford, 95% sure on the Thunderbird)

Yes he did. He started out with a 56 ford the K-2, a Dodge charger #8, a ford torino #15, and a ford thunderbird. Dale Sr. basically drove any car that his sponsor's would give him in the begining, but, he drove a chevy the longest.

Dale drove a lot of non Chevy's. Besides the Torino, that turned out pink looking thing, is his first race, was a ford. He has driven Ford, Dodge, Oldsmobile and Pontiac.

Jr himself did mention once that he would consider running it near the end of his career. He also said that he wouldn;t be oppoesed to someone else driving it, mentioning the fact that there are some kids out there running go karts right now who have never heard of Dale Sr, but the 3 is their # and it wouldn't be fair to tell them no once the reach the top level after having it their entire lives. It really boils down to what NASCAR and Childress want though. I don;t see Childress telling his grandson NO when/if he makes it to the Cup level and I don;t see Brian France Jr or whoever turing down the attention and money that it would bring in. Jr has a 5 year contract with HMS and I doubt he'll drive for them beyond that time, especially if he goes thru with bringing his Nationwide team up to the Cup level.

He did drive a Ford Thunderbird one season for Bud Moore sponsored by Wrangler. I believe that was 1982.
The ESPN movie "3" did not mention this at all. Probably on the cutting room floor.
If he did, it must have been some one race deals prior to his rookie season in 1979.
