I was watching a video where i cop died and everyone was totally disrespecting the cop and calling him a pig. But do these people also hate paramedics and firefighters too?

NO. A paramedic has never beaten anyone in the street. A firefighter has never sat on someone's back with 5 other grown men, yelling stop resisting and punching in the ribs.

Just an idea.

Firefighters very rarely take a pay off NOT to put out a fire.
Paramedics rarely are arbitrary in who they want to save.

Just another thought.

Firefighters don't think they are above their house burning down; and paramedics don't think they are above having a heart attack.

Another thought.

Firefighters are PROUD when someone has a camcorder recording them in action at work. Paramedics have never shot anyone without a gun 81 times.

Firefighters do not need to use intimidation and fear tatics to accomplish their mission...nor do paramedics.

Any other questions?

Let me give you my view on the situation

Lets say there are two adjacent houses on fire. When a firefighter pulls up on a call, they don't care. they put them both out. They are going to acertain which house their labor could do the most good, and attack it, while still putting out the other fire.

Lets say there is a 2 vehicle car crash. Paramedics arrive. They will treat the worst first, and then the lighter injuries after.

When police pull up on a scene, they don't use this same approach. Ask any police officer this question: "who would you rather bust. A person smoking pot or a person stealing from a closed business". A cop won't care. Their answer is "they are both breaking the law equally". This is a very different position than the firefighters and paramedics. However, most of society sees burglary/theft as a much worse crime than pot smoking. Further, at an officer down call, darn near the whole rest of the city is left unattended to so all cops rush to catch the assailant. But, If I get a beating, I will wait 20 min. for the police to show up.

Next, I think it is the public perception that police misallocate their resources. In that, they are putting plenty of police on the streets for moving violations, but there is not enough "manpower" for keeping up with the registered child molesters (most states they are required to notify the local law enforcement agencies of their address, change of address, etc) Therefore, the general public does not feel as though the police are being responsive to the appropriate needs.

Further, the police training policy of using overwhelming force when escalating the use of force continuum is not only percieved by the public to be excessive force, it is. Police teach the "totality of the circumstances"...but they do not apply it.

Finally, have you ever had a vehicle broken into, or even stolen. I did. I HAD to giver a report over the phone. NO INVESTIGATION WAS GOING TO TAKE PLACE! I finally had to call the Captian that was in charge that day and beg to get an officer out. The reason why - there was a camera pointed directly at my vehicle. I thought surely there would be SOME evidence of the criminals on that video. The officer who arrived told me that I would have to get the video and if I found any information like a tag number or suspect discription I could call him and give it to him. Really, where did he need to be? Catching speeders? Giving seatbelt law violations? (TURNS OUT, there was a tag number, and a suspect discription...they were caught, but my truck was trashed when they found it...crashed, totaled, wasted inside and out)

I am not saying traffic should not be delt with, but it is LESS important to the general public than catching child molesters, rapists, theives.

If a paramedic or a firefighter rescues you from an accident and notices old license tabs or a nugget or a rifle in your trunk, they are either going to take you to the hospital or put out the fire, and let you mind your own business.
If they see a bound and gagged CORPSE in your trunk, most would and should call the cops, but the point is that Firefighters and Paramedics aren't anal nitpickers to the point of making people resent them. Cops are.

The cops, on the other hand, just want any excuse to arrest you on any grounds they can conjure up. Unless, of course, you can cough up some serious big money.

It's sad that people disrespect LEOs, but when frivolous, controversial and/or unjust laws get on the books and you have these jackals jumping at every chance to "get" you, of course people are going to resent them!

And of course this disrespect just teaches the wrong people to join the force for the wrong reasons.
If I believed that the police were around only to serve and protect, then I would BE one!

However, most young people who join the force now are social control freaks who seek to intimidate and arrest. This, of course, makes even MORE people hate cops! So the whole cycle spins out of control until the police simply become hired thugs for the rich and powerful.

The only place to stop this dreadful cycle is in the legislature.

It's a shame. I've did all of the above.....mostly worked on an ambulance as a paramedic, and I've been shot at, spit upon, hit, pretty much you name it. I think the people who are doing all this stuff just do it because we wear a uniform. Of course, this is only my opinion. Best of luck to you.

No, there have been times when cops have abused their authority and have made the normal cop look bad. This guy probably was known for doing something bad.

No since the EMS and firefighter would be trying to help them. Most people who don't like cops, don't like them because they have been in trouble before.
