Not really. Over the summer, I only ate one meal a day and didn't lose any weight.

Well you have to burn 3500 calories to lose 1 pound. If you super duper active in one day without eating you would probably get hypoglycemic and become very sluggish. If you were running at 10 miles per hours you would burn 590 cals. At 6 mph, 944 cals. which means you be running a minimum of 3.5 hours. However you would lose water weight which is sweat. You can lose up to 6 pounds in one day. But if don't replensih your fluid that will lead to dehydration. Most people restore thier fluid levels anyway. The FDA reccomends at least a 2000 to maintain a decent nutritional level. Other than sweat and laxitives (which if abused can be fatal) I would say it is not likely to happen in one day. 3 days or more yes. BUT...Not eating for long periods of time can lead to malnutrition, organ damage/ failure, and eventually death.

When you sleep, you generally lose 2 pounds. Probably a whole day of activity without eating would be around 4 pounds.

If you don't eat for a whole day you put your body into shut down mode and your metabolism slows down. This causes you to not burn any calories. It has to do with feast or famine when our ancestor's had to go get their own food. If they didn't get food for a couple days it was the bodies way of protecting them so they didn't starve.
