I was told by a Muslim woman that the Koran says "white people are the devil". Not one Muslim has ever denied this. They have talked around the issue, but they have never denied it. So, if they consider a whole race of people to be "the devil", how is that different than a non-Muslim thinking muslims are evil?

I will repeat - I was told that the Koran says "White people are the devil" by a MUSLIM WOMAN. She happened to be black, if that makes any difference.

Ok, after reading some responses, maybe the woman was actually a member of the Nation if Islam, even though she did tell me she was a Muslim. I have to admit that I did not really know they were different until now. And I did not really mean any disrespect with the question, I just want answers.

Perhaps your friend is a member of 'the Nation of Islam'- which is a division that Muslims do not accept- simply because they go against the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah. Malcom X is a prime example of a member of the Nation of Islam who hated white people- he traveled to Hajj and discovered the truth- that Islam knows no race. He changed his ways and came to the true Islam after that.
In the last speech that the Prophet Mohammed-pbuh- gave to the people he said "All Mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab, also a white has no superiority over a black nor a black over a white- except in piety and good action."
In my mosque we have many white converts and they are treated with warmth and respect by all of us.

I'm not a Muslim but the Qu'ran doesn't say that white people are the devil. That sounds more like something the Nation of Islam would say. The Nation of Islam and regular Muslims are two different entities. "Real" Muslims do NOT acknowledge people who follow the Nation of Islam.

I'd would talk to someone else.

And NO I don't believe in Islam, I think it's a false religion but I will give credit where credit is due and no where in the Qu'ran does it say "white people are the devil"

Was she a member of the Nation of Islam (aka Black Muslims) or a real Muslim? The Nation of Islam does indeed believe that Caucasians are a devilish race. Regular Muslims don't believe that.

If someone tells you that "ABC says this", then ask for PROOF. You believe this people without doing any real research of your own. Why? Has anyone ever opened a Quran and proved their statements? If you have not seen it with your own eyes, then why believe it.

As a side note: People tend to be very ignorant about their religions. It's better to read about faiths through an intellectual source than asking random members of that religious (unless they've really studied it). I learned this the hard way.

This is ludicrous. When the Koran was written, Europeans were not on their radar. As well, Arabs are included in the term 'white'. The real point is about beliefs. How many people who spout dogma from their religious books have bothered to read them?

While I've never heard that Muslims consider white people the devil, I'm not terribly surprised. I'd be curious to know if the woman you spoke with was an african-american, and a member of the Nation of Islam. I HAVE heard them say that.

At any rate, there is no denying that Islam is a woefully intolerant religion, advocating the destruction of non-Muslims if they reject the opportunity to convert. Yet, in classic double-standard political correctness, we are asked to tolerate their beliefs and customs, while that same tolerance is not reciprocated in predominately Muslim countries, ESPECIALLY Saudi Arabia.

Finally, I've noticed that in Y! Answers, the Muslims in here are expert in dancing around an issue and using talking-points, especially in regard to the Crusades. They're also good at flagging, so don't be surprised if your quesiton gets knocked off by them!

How can I claim Muslims are not hateful? Easy, Quran made it clear mankind are made different so that we may know and learn from each other, not fight or hate. Read below if you dont believe me.

Quran Al Hujurat 49:13.
O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise (each other). Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of God is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And God has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things).

p/s I personally know TWO white woman (one American, one Canadian) who embraced Islam recently, do you think they would even come near Islam if the religion is hateful towards them? bdway, are you not aware that the Muslims in Europe (Bosnia) are white??

You need to open up your eyes more, my dear.

the quran doesnt say that, ive read most of the quran, what ur talking about is the "nation of islam" a sect of islam that was developed in america by blacks. malcolm x in fact was converted by black muslims or the nation of islam. bascially the nation of islam is a weird twisted up version of islam and it does teach white people are the devil. and just to rap it up malcolm x actually ended up comming to the mainstream islam and also not all blacks are part of the nation of islam its only a very small percentage here in america

Though your question has no base of fact at all, yet I'll answer this.

Islam never (EVER) claimed that any skin color is better then the other, Islam teaches that all people are as equal as the tips of a comb (straight in hight).

Have you not heard of all the converts to Islam? White, black, short, tall?

It's never a matter of what your outer look is like, it depends on what you are like in the inside.

Take your information from more reliable sources, that'll be better for you.

Peace.

No difference, but that sounds like Nation of Islam not mainstream Islam. Not a muslim, but Islam does teach that are races are equal. Malcom X himself had a great metamorphis in his thinking when he took his pilgrimage to Mecca and saw Muslims of all races worshipping peacefully.

Now of course you are talking about human beings so there are those that do not follow those teachings, just as there are in Christianity. (The bible was used to justify slavery if you remember)

The bigger issues with Islam in my opinion, is what it teaches about non-believers. I would suggest you would learn about the religion yourself, go to the source.

I think you are very confused...I've read the Qur'an and I've never read an aya that says that white people are the devil...

EDIT: Pragmatic, if you read some more you might learn a thing or two...In other parts it talks about "ahlul kitaab" or "people of the book" which means Muslims, Christians, and Jews. A nonbeliever is a "kafer" which is not the same as "ahlul kitaab". You should do some research before you come on here and just make yourself look stupid from your ignorance.
