This is a "congenital"disease, meaning present at birth,a "genetic defect that affects Type I collagen.It can be inherited by the following: #1 From Mom or Dad,#2 mutation of the egg or sperm with neither parent has the gene for OI. #3 Inherited from either parent that carry the OI gene,but not themselves be effected .Take care.
