bad idea. Have you exchanged pics with each other?
If you insist, do it in a very public place where there are a lot of other people. Make sure you know where to find him and what he'll be wearing or whatever...but don't tell him about you. You have the control if he doesn't know what you look like. Just in case he's some old skeeze or a perv.
Get a look at him, and if it's not the person you're expecting just leave.
Oh, and yeah, have someone with you. And let some other friends know where you're going and who you're meeting in case the both of you disappear.

google the name john robinson. or go to the library and read the book "anyone you want me to be." it's a great book about this guy who posed as someone else on the internet and killed a lot of people, to this day they don't even know how many. he's the first internet serial killer.

so in short, i think it's a bad idea. but you probably won't listen, so if you are going to see him, make sure you bring a big manly friend with you so you can get out quick if he isn't what he says he is. and don't go anywhere alone with him. ever. or at least until you know who he really is and what he really wants, which should take at least a month after you meet him. and if he lied about anything that he told you, get rid of him. who knows what else he lied about?

no, you shouldn't. in fact, immediately tell your parents (or a school counselor) that you've been chatting with "him" for three years and that "he" wants to meet you. you really have no idea what kind of a person you've been chatting with and sharing information with. plenty of people have been kidnapped in the day time while in public places, so don't take comfort in meeting him in public. don't let "him" fool you. play it safe and assume the worst -- that "he" may intend on hurting you. please tell someone about "him" before you chat with "him" again. be more afraid of this stranger than what your parents or counselor might say if you tell.

one word.... no!!! I actually read an article on this the other day.. A young girl (17) met a older man who im-ed her saying he was 19.. they met at a local restaurant.. and her parents found out later she had been killed and raped by the creep.. I wouldnt trust anyone who asks to meet in public.. no matter HOW long you have been chatting.. Stay Out Of It!!! (Not to scare you)

I think its risky. You never know these days if theyre really 16. I would meet him in a busy place like a mall or a resturaunt or bring someone with you so that you know there will be someone there if he turns out differently then what you expected. Just stay safe! =]

if you are sure you know who he is then go for it! but be careful because people arnt always who they seem, make sure you tell your parents what your doing, and take a friend, meet somewhere public like a mall, and meet him somewhere busy not some quiet corner! Good luck and keep safe!!

Don't be stupid.
Or, if you like, contact the police and have him meet you with the cops there. Just don't tell the 40 year old that the cops will be there.
