Well, have you ever sniffed the cat's cat food or the cat treats? If you do, some of them smell pretty bad, or putrid. Take liver and beef for example. Does that sound bad or good to you? There is another solution though. If that bad-breathed cat has or steals more food, he has more plaque on his teeth and that causes bad breath, even with humans. I expect that it's because of the plaque. You should get a dental appointment with the dentist at the vet.

The most common cause of bad breath on a cat is the activities of bacteria in the mouth. The bacteria that cause the problem is associated with a buildup of plaque and tartar on the teeth. Tartar is a coating composed of food particles, bacteria, and minerals.

To cure cat bad breath, it's helpful to brush your cat's teeth reguarly. Feeding him dry kibble in the hopes of this taking care of the problem is not enough. Cat toothpastes are available in fish or meat flavors - the mechanical brushing is important for removing tartar, but some of these toothpastes also contain enzymes that dissolve the tartar, so just getting it on the teeth regularly will help a bit to cure cat bad breath. Toothbrushes and tooth scrapers are also available. It is a fortunate cat owner whose cat will tolerate this kind of attention: start early with your cat to prevent the buildup of tartar in the first place, and avoid cat bad breath later.

I brush my cats' teeth everyday and I use an enzyme based cat toothpaste called C.E.T. It is very good.

Is your cat a specific breed? If so he could be prone to gum disease. I had an Oriental and Siamese their teeth were sparkling white not an ounce of tarter any where but they had red gums and terrible breath and nothing would help. They had a type or allergic reaction to the teeth enamal. So we had all the back teeth pulled leaving the fangs forward. And both of them were cured. I had one done by specialist costing a fortune the other I took to a Farmer/Breeder vet and it cost almost nothing.

Cats need to periodically get their teeth cleaned by a vet. Your cat may have dental problems or gum disease that needs to be addressed. It might be that this cat has just developed problems sooner than the other two or is the oldest cat.
