Freud states that unresolved conflicts are suppressed by being placed in the subconscious, and that this can lead to pathological symptoms, such as phobias. How do you think a psychoanalyst might treat a patient in this situation?

What Feud thought was his THEORY, not a text from the Bible.
I believe we human being can develope phobia, at the same time we have ability to be stronger than any phobias, too. Usually psychiatrists let one look into the conflicts and supressions, but the cure is up to the person. (Some people overcome, some people don't overcome after awaring one's problem.)
Please believe you have strong potential, that's the key to overcome any phobia (or other problem)

The unresolved conflicts would be sought out, addressed and a cure might be produced.
