So you'd give a charitable contribution, but you wouldn't really be giving anything yourself since you'd get it all back in taxes - you'd just force the rest of the taxpayers to donate to a cause YOU think is good. Sure, more people would donate - it wouldn't cost them anything.

If you want to donate to an organization, then you should at least be giving part of the donation yourself.

Yes, it's win-win for the organizations and for the people donating. But where is the government going to get its money to operate?

I do not know if it would make any real difference for the charities. I get the impression donations are motivated more by the act of giving than a need for some sort of tax break.

Besides once Congress got done writing the laws creating the credits we would just have one more confusing form to fill out. The only one benefiting would be the tax preparers.

That's my 2 cents worth.

Obama is obviously proscribing those deductions because of the fact he needs the donations to bypass down. Obama would not like the loose marketplace to have a hand in fixing societies problems, like homelessness, and starvation. proscribing deductions will insure that he ought to then blame the wealthy for not being concerned with the aid of loss of charitable donations. this is a grimy trick it particularly is worth of a solid Chicago politician. human beings have short techniques, and whilst those charities checklist donations down, Obama will declare that the government has to step in to clean up those problems.

Bad idea. People would get fake donation receipts. There would be less money for governmental services like police, firemen, roads, etc.

They should keep it the way it is.
