Child abuse is anything that is done that hinders a child's well being physically, mentally, emotionally. Call police and CPS

Call the Dept. of Human Services, IMMEDIATELY!!!!!! or your local police dept. I consider child abuse anything that I would not tolerate being done to myself, which includes: Cursing, Hitting, Mental Abuse and Physical Abuse. I am not against SPANKING altogether...... BUT, there is a line some people cross when spanking becomes ABUSE. Any time a child has bruises, whelps, or bleeding , in my opinion, this is abuse. NEGLECT is an often overlooked form of abuse. Emotional abuse happens when an adult speaks to a child in a tone that is intimidating in a way that it makes the child fear that he will be BEATEN. Constant degrading of a child such as calling them names like STUPID< FAT< UGLY< IGNORANT should not be tolerated either. I believe that children should be punished when they misbehave and guided in the right direction, but this should be done in a loving, caring, and nurturing manner. The child should be told exactly what he did wrong and the consequences that such behavior will get him and then follow through. This can be done in the form of withdrawal of privelages such as tv. sleepovers, sports, allowance, etc. Children should also be praised when they accomplish their goals or change their negative behavior. Do Not Wait, If you think a child is being abused. It could be the only chance you have to change or save his life. If you see it happening, step in and stop the behavior. If you are unable to or unwilling to do this, call the police immediately and distract the participants until the police get there.

When you know or even suspect that a child is being abused, you should seriously consider it your duty to let authorities know...call the police, or call your local Family Services Department. They will do an investigation. Even if it turns out that you were wrong, there was no harm done...especially to the child if you were RIGHT and there is abuse going on.

child abuse and neglect consist of beating a child to where there are whelps, bruises and bleeding. the child is not getting fed and it's dirty all the time. children look at a parent to discipline it when they have done wrong. some kids will think they are unloved if they don't get disciplined, like the parents don't give a crap. but beatings and not taken care of is abuse and neglect. if the child is being beaten call human services. but make sure you are correct with your findings, if the parent/s finds out who did it, you can be sued for harassment and false accusations.

Sometimes the definition of child abuse can only be summed up as "I know it when I see it." I feel there's a moral and social responsibility to call the proper authorities and report it (CPS, DCFS, police, etc.). They will do an investigation and make a decision based on what they find as well as what was reported.

In your case if you see a child being abused you can choose between turning the lights off, shutting your eyes or just stop looking in the mirror.

If you are asking then you should call. The people on the hotline will answer all these questions. Do a search for Abuse Report and the name of your state. the number is there.

Just tell a trusted friend or adult, nobody should go through abuse. My meaning of abuse is to hurt either physically or emotionally

report it to CPS (child protective services), or 911 if it's life threatening/urgent.

Every state will have it's own cps number, it shouldn't be too hard to find online.

Yeah yeah, I know some people think the system fails, but it's still the system that is in place.
