All persons with addictions to anything (sex, drugs, jogging, etc.) make a choice to abstain from unhealthful behavior in order to experience recovery. The lowest common denominator for all recovery methods is choice. The disease model strips an individual from personal responsibility and curses them to a mindset of helplessness that allows for relapses and acting out in a predictable cycle. The 12-step program does exactly the same thing, with the added benifit that the program may eventually replace the original object of addiction where the individuals behavior and thinking remains the same, but is socially acceptable.

Take responsibility. If acting out causes deliterious effects in your life, then you must change your choice from acting out to abstaining. Choice=responsibility=freedom.

Good luck.

I'm not a sex addict, and have no experience of sex addiction, but I imagine that like any addiction it is very hard to deal with alone. Not impossible, but certainly difficult.

I am an alcoholic and have found that the support of Alcoholics Anonymous is incredibly beneficial to my recovery. Perhaps Sex Addicts Anonymous might help you?

I am really saddened by the comments posted so far - Sex Addiction is a real problem for many people, and not something to be mocked.

Yes...
It is not that difficult..
You need only learn to be faithful to your partner
and you need a partner who will give you a lot of sex.
