i always heard an hour/two if you've eaten a big meal. otherwise you'll get MAJOR cramps. but if its just a snack you can exercise even 15 minutes after you eat

At least an hour. That is if it was a light lunch, after a heavy lunch, at least two hours.

If you want to do anything serious, like sustained running, I would wait 2-3 hours or else you will likely experience stomach cramps.
