Not sure, because probably there are a lot of people who get tattoos due to "peer pressure", because everybody is doing so. The problem is that they are not hair style and they are permanent.
It is a personal decision, but some people do it because it is fashionable.

OK do you really want to get a tatoo? What would happen if you wanted to go to a wedding or a special occasion? Would you really want to have a tatoo? OK so now I'll answer the question. I'm sorry I just wanted to give you that perspective so you know if you get a tatoo you'll have one for your entire life unless you have it removed which I have heard hurts a lot. OK I think the person if they really want to get a tatoo should wait until they are at least in college or in their twenties at the very minimum. That person should also definitely think about the decision for a very long time to make sure they know it's what they want to do. I hope I helped! Good luck!

I don't know, I am still too young that's a certainty. I am only 59 yo and wouldn't consider it for at least another 50 or 60 years.
Sorry, but I think they are foolish, expensive and potentially harmful. I put them in a category with piercings and elective plastic surgery. The type of plastic surgery I call vanity surgery.
The bottom line though is it is your call. Just be sure to get something you like because you will likely have it a long time.
Good luck and make sure you get clean needles...

The legal age without a guardian is 18, but you should have to be older than that-like 23 or so. It's such a rush for so many people to run out on their 18th birthday and get some random tattoo. You should seriously think about what you want before getting it and have enough respect for your body (since it's on you forEVER) to wait till you've reached a mature enough age to get something you'll really like, forever.
Don't get me wrong-I LOVE tattoos, and will get a few of my own in a couple of years once I'm out of college. Just be careful, don't get something that you'll hate to look at when you're 60~bonus points for designing it yourself!
good luck!

As everyone else said, the legal age is 18. I think a person should be old enough to consider whether or not this is something they want for decades to come. You know, what's cute at 22 may look ridiculous on a 60 year old. Then again, it can always be removed if you have the $$$ and can take the pain.

Sugar ad,
I don't know how old you are, but as a mother I feel 18 is good if your considering it. Keep in mind that there is some risk involved and it can be expensive getting them. One more thing, be careful as to what tattooes that your considering, because some employers are real picky when hiring someone with tattooes.

legally 18...but that doesn't mean that one should go out and get one because you can....they should be ready to put something on their bodies that will be permanent and will not be just some weird thing that they liked in HS. I personally didn't get mine until after I had my daughter....she inspired me to get one. I was or am 29...
