Am I being Fair? I have a 3 year old who I am desperately trying to potty train so I have offered him Chocolate each time he goes Potty. 1 lil piece of Chocolate if he pees' and 2 lil pieces of Chocolate if he goes poopy.
So, now my question is....I babysit a 5 year old lil girl sometimes and she wants a piece of candy too. I have told her that she is already potty trained and I am trying to teach my son to use the potty like a big boy and by him getting the candy is suposse 2be special 4 him.
Now if I give her candy or something to that effect too then I am not doing anything special for my son &he wont see the potty training thing as anything he wants to do if she gets something too. When Hes the one going potty & not her. Am I wrong? What should I do?
The mom said that her lil girl feels treated unfairly &she isn't trying 2have my son &her kid compete but she wants me 2go &buy her kid sweettarts or something so that when I give my son his chocolate reward her kid gets 1 too??

How would you like it if it was reversed? She doesn't see it as your trying to get your son to go on the potty, she just sees that hes getting chocolate and she isn't. It is not fair for you to be doing that in front of another child. Her mother has a good suggestion. The dollar you would spend on a pack of sweettarts will save that little girls feelings.

I would either think of something for the 5 y.o. to get rewards for (although if she is the only child you are babysitting ask the mother to buy the candies) or let your son save up the reward candy for the day until the little girl goes home.

I would either find something that the 5 year old can do to earn some or maybe tell him if he goes, then him and his friend both get chocolate then he is even more special cause he scored chocolate for her too.

I wouldn't give the 5 year old candy just because she sees your son earning it. Maybe think of a task she could do to earn candy, like read herself a book or practice tying her shoes.
