A few weeks before my 20th birthday, in February 1993.
I had just gotten engaged the previous month to a young man from Ohio, and I was living in Michigan at the time. I found an efficiency apartment, and he lived with his parents and paid my rent. When we got married, he moved in.
Oh, and I'd met him in Wisconsin. :)

I am just moving out of my parents as soon as I get back from my spring break vacation with friends. I am 18 years old and a freshman in college. The situation with my parents is not going so well and I need my space. I am moving out because I still get treated like I am a child. My parents have even tried to give me a curfew, even now that I am 18. The rules in my house were that if you lived under that roof you followed their rules and I wasn't about to give up my freedoms that come with being 18 and I wasn't going to let them tell me what I can and can't do. I can't wait to move out. I know that for a while it will be hard to get used to, I know that I will make it work. It's not like i'm moving across the country...just 7 miles away and a different town.... Good luck!

I moved out when I was 19 cause I got a job as an apartment manager (that's crashed) so I moved back about 2 years later for a few months, they I moved here to Santa Barbara Cali for a another job as a tech agent!
I do miss my family and my home town, I have been living here for 2 years and I am 2 hr away and that's hard cause I have never been so far from my family :(

Moved out 2 weeks after turning 18. 4 months later, I had my son. I could have stayed but for 1- It didn't feel right for me to live at home after having a child, ( didn't want my parents to feel obligated in any way) And I really didn't get along with my step dad that well.

I joined the Navy at 18. After I got out (21) I went back home and moved out after I got married at 22.
My parents and I have a good relationship, but we also respect each others privacy. So many parents and children don't know how to stay out of other people's business.

I moved out at 17, didn't even wait for my diploma. I had it mailed to me. I was not in a healthy situation, and knew the only way it would get better was to leave. I've never looked back. I've eaten top ramen for weeks at a time, chosen between gasoline and electricity, but I've never looked back.
