DVD's stores information digitally where VHS tape stores information in analog form. A magnetic field can erase a VHS tape even if the write protect tab is removed. A magnetic field will not affect a DVD.

A dvd is a cd that you can select chapters of the movie from. A vhs is a tape that isn't worth much now.

a dvd is like a cd, but it plays a movie. It looks exactly like a compact disk. Then the vhs is a tape.
