Instead of buying those over-priced packages, does anyone have an alternative? I'd like to use a regular cake mix and just separate it into different baggies, but I don't know how much to put for the one serving. Any ideas, links, etc.? Thx.

An easy bake oven is a toy with a light bulb as a heat source.

Betty Crocker cookbook should work fine.

If you're asking "how much cake batter should I put in so it doesn't spill over and make a mess..........same ratio as a normal cake pan.

Try not to make this hard, it's not.

Generally the mix only fills up half of the little baking pan, so I'd say that amount is perfect for one batch. Just make the mix, pour some of it in the baking pan, measure that out in a measuring cup, and then separate it into baggies like you said.

Just go to the store and buy add water only cake and cookie mixes. Use just enough mix for your easy bake and keep the rest in an air tight container. Or you can buy a regular cake mix and add powdered milk and eggs, then store it in an air tight container and add water as you go.

I wouldn't recommend that, even if the pre-packaged mixes are a bit expensive. I'm fairly sure they have certain chemicals in them that make them cook properly over the little light bulb, and regular cake mix might not.

This is the fun one and the practical one is underneath

NPR gave chefs an easy bake and this is what they cooked:
