When I was dumb enough to have indoor/outdoor cats (I was a child, so it was out of my control), I lost a beautiful young girl to this disease. The first symptoms that we saw were SEVERE fatigue and lethargy. The poor girl would pee in plants because she was too weak & tired to make it across the house to the litter box.

When my mom finally took her to the vet, her white counts were sky high. After a few days of treatment, she was better, but then everything crashed and she died.

There is a vaccination for this disease now, and keeping your cat safe inside is also a fabulous preventative as its spread through saliva and blood.

If you think your cat may be infected, bring her to the vet. Once diagnosed, you can begin treatment and may be able to help arrest the disease before it becomes deadly. Cats can and will survive with this disease, but diagnosis and treatment is required. And, if your cat is an outdoor cat, please, bring him inside. It's the only responsible way to have a cat.

Good luck to you. : )

There is no definitive syptom exceept this: Any disease that you treat over and over again and it doesn’t get better may be caused by the immune suppression of Feline Leukemia. One of the first things a vet will do in ANY chronic disease condition affecting a cat is test for FeLV. So, if your kitty has a relatively simple illness like a cold or a sore and it does not go away or keeps coming back despite repeated treatments of antiobiotics, then there is a fair chance that he has FeLV.

There are many symptoms and they are different depending on the cat. You can get a test done at a vet. There is a combo test and a regular test. The combo test is a Fip/Feleuk test. You really need a professional opinion and an evaluation. You can not guess by the symptoms, not even a trained D.V.M. could do that with feleuk.
