I recently booked a flight on JetBlue, flying with my dog (a Pug). When booking the flight, the rep advised me that if the dog and carrier were a couple of lbs. over the 20 lb. limit (like 1 or 2), they wouldn't give me a hard time; HOWEVER, the 2nd rep I spoke to said that I should be "very careful" and that they very well might turn me away and deny me the ability to take him on the flight...that she had seen a dog be denied at 23 lbs.! Has anyone ever flown with a pet on JetBlue? Can you tell me your experience? I'm really worried now that I will be turned away!! The rep actually told me that perhaps I shouldn't feed my dog too much before I left!! I know the fee in non-refundable.

My suggestion is to go to the airport directly with dog and carrier and ask them people at the counter. If they say it will be fine, get manager's name and rep's name. If there is any trouble when you go to board your flight you will be able to say "so and so verified this would be okay" and you should have no problems.

Acutally, you should stop feeding your dog 8-12 hours prior to your flight. This will allow his system digestive system to empty, decreasing his need to potty while traveling. You should also limit his water or take it away from him 4-8 hours prior to flight for the same reason. You can give him a few ice cubes at the airport and during the flight if he's thristy.

Make sure you potty him before leaving the house and again as soon as possible once you reach your destination. Unlike people, dogs don't have restrooms they can use while on the air plane.
