Best thing I can suggest is, when you're in high school and college, take lots of chemistry, biology, physics, and math. There are specific classes that you take in college that medical school admissions committees are going to look very closely at, and the better you are at them, the better the chance you have.

Also, it would be helpful to have some amount of volunteer experience under your belt. Med schools want to see that you are genuinely interested in helping out people. Plus, you can get letters of recommendation from your volunteer coordinators, which you will need when you apply to medical school. Good places to look for volunteer opportunities would be your local hospital or free clinic.

When you are a little older (say, 16 or so), see if you can work for your doctor's office as a volunteer (or paid) office receptionist. You'll get all kinds of insight into what doctors actually do, and the nitty-gritties of the practice. It ain't like what you see on E.R., House, or Gray's Anatomy, I'll tell ya. You might also get some good insight if you can get a job at your local pharmacy, (though in most states, you have to be 18).

Good luck. We need more good doctors. Hope it works out, and I hope you can profit from my advice.

Well, many kids dream of becoming a doctor, but few actually do.

If you're serious, I'd suggest studying very hard (unfortunately, grades are the most important factor in becoming a doctor (assuming you're already interested in it) ), and more importantly, getting clinical volunteer experience so you actually know what you're getting into.
