Yes, atrocities have been committed by criminals in this country. Don't even get into slavery because most of the country was against the southern whites concerning that. If you notice God is in our constitution, our pledge on our money. "In God we trust." That is the only reason we grew into such a great and mighty nation, because God blessed us.

I got your e-mail. I have heard some of our founding father's were masons and i agree with you they aren't christians. Should I mention that the KKK is prevalent in the southern bible belt, too but they are not Christians. The pilgrims came here for religious freedom and our constitution and pledge declare one nation under God. We tried to honor God back them but I don't believe we do now.

What does your question have anything to do with found this country based on Christianity?!
The enslaving of African Americans was based the need of free labor during the 1600s-1700s as well as the moral and ethical view of slavery during the time period.
Likewise the Native Americans. This country was founded on Christianity because everyone who founded this country was Christian and believed in Jesus Christ.
There is no proof of America having discrimination from specific countries of Europe.

Maybe you should check wikipedia. That can answer alot of your questions.

The people who founded the USA were from England and were Christians. They left England because they did not want to be members of the newly founded Church of England that was formed by the King.
These people did not have slaves of any kind. The natives got along fine with the early settlers.
It was not until the Spanish brought the slaves did this country have slavery.
As far as discrimination goes, the US has people who have come from all over the world and have brought their hatreds with them. Just because they are US citizens does not mean they have put their old hatreds away.
IF WE ALL FORGOT TO CALL OURSELVES BY THE NAME OF THE COUNTRY OF ORIGIN AND THEN AS AMERICAN BUT AS AMERICANS ONLY MAYBE A LOT OF THE DISCRIMINATION WOULD DISAPPEAR.

You twist the words, Christians claim the country was founded on Christian/Judeo principles, not Christianity. So, are you saying it was alright for the Muslims to enslave the Africans in the first place? I think a lot of the discrimination against Europeans were Christians - ever heard of the Irish and Italians? It was also the efforts of the Christian community that finally brought the evil of slavery to a head. Slavery well pre-dates Christianity by the way.

Christians suffer from egocentricity which is common with colonization. The believe the propaganda that aboriginal people were less than human, because they look, and worship differently that they are, "others". This means they should not be noticed or if they are penalized for not being the same. When we stereotype someone as another it is so much easier to oppress and marginalize. This country flourished better before the europeans brought with them disease, alcoholism, jail systems, slavery etc. You are so right by pointing out that their contributions as christians were far more detrimental at ruining this beautiful country then improving it. Great observation about the "great white man", who never would have survived had not the savages taught them the rudiments of the new, old, world.

Because there's a sort of psychological need to bring heroes on your side. Notice also how christians occasionally claim Abraham Lincoln or Albert Einstein were christians when they were both agnostic/atheists and how they take a villainous catholic like Adolf Hitler and call him an "atheist." Trying to get heroes on your side makes you look good, it adds credibility and viability to your stance, it builds ethos and can be persuasive no matter how false it is.

As for the idea of this being a christian country...

""As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion;"
- Treaty of Tripoli. Ratified unanimously by congress and signed by President John Adams.

Yeah I hate to break it to all the ignoramuses here, but the US was NOT in any possible stretch founded on christianity or christian principles. The founding fathers were deists (believing there's a cosmic intelligence or creator that doesn't really interfere or do anything) and were openly critical of christianity. They considered christianity an evil, disruptive and cruel form of religion and a threat to society. They intended to protect us from religion and would be horrified if they could see our country now and that "god" was put into our money and pledge in the 50s.

One need look only into some of the letters, diaries, and journals written by the actual founding fathers to see this:

"I have found Christian dogma unintelligible. Early in life, I absenteed myself from Christian assemblies."
"Lighthouses are more helpful then churches."
- Ben Franklin

"During almost fifteen centuries has the legal establishment of Christianity been on trial. What has been its fruits? More or less, in all places, pride and indolence in the clergy; ignorance and servility in the laity; in both, superstition, bigotry, and persecution."
"Religious bondage shackles and debilitates the mind and unfits it for every noble enterprise."
- James Madison

"The divinity of Jesus is made a convenient cover for absurdity."
"This would be the best of all possible worlds, if there were no religion in it."
- John Adams

"I do not find in orthodox Christianity one redeeming feature."
"Christianity is the most perverted system that ever shone on man."
"Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined and imprisoned; yet we have not advanced one inch towards uniformity."
–Thomas Jefferson, Notes on Virginia, 1782.

I could go on but you should get the point.

America was not founded on Christian beliefs, I forget who, but some of the writers of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence were atheists. America was a home for those who escaped religious persecution. Evangelicals are blind when they say it's a Christian Nation. And I don't think slavery or the devestation of the Native Americans was a result of Christianity, it's more of ethnocentrism and Europeans thinking they were more civilized only because foreign cultures were not like theirs, Imperialism was a result of Europeans confusing their culture as superior but many advances in science and inventions were taken from the colonies they ruled

No, we'll take the credit.

Just ask any black person if he wished his ancestors hadn't come here.

Slaughtering of native americans? OK, that was bad, but we lived in a completely different era back then. Whites did not see them as equals, only savages to be tamed.

Discrimination towards "specific countries"? You want to be more specific? I can't think of any European countries we don't view as desirable.

As for enslavement... that has gone on all throughout history. Blacks in Africa enslaved one another. We fought a battle in Tripoli (Libya) because black pirates were selling whites into slavery.

Did Christians invent slavery? No. The weaker ones among us were just going along with what the world does which is take away life liberty and property from people for no good reason. Today we do it to the unborn!

This country was founded on religious principles and the very idea that our rights come from God and should never ever be taken away. Once you take away that definition, our rights can be stripped away at a moments notice! Btw the pilgrims and puritans were VERY religious and this country was founded by them. you should read the book by Newt Gingrich, rediscovering God in America I believe its called!

They say that because many of the founders were christian. Unfortunatly there are bad negative people who claim to be a christian. It says in the bible you will know they are my people by their fruits. This is Jesus speaking and the fruits mean the good stuff we are suppose to be doing for the lord. To claim to be a christian actually means Christ like. If any of these people from the past were truely christians they would have left more of a legacy like Dr. Martin Luther King or Abraham Lincoln. The bible tells us do unto others as you would have done to you. I don't know what Bible they were reading but clearly not following what it teachs. Hope this helps you a little.
