I need to make our band room sound proof because of complaining roommates, what is the cheapest? and what works good?

cardboard egg cartons with a layer of cardboard over the top of them(roughly free if you have enough people helping you find the materials) or pink foam based styrofoam insulation 4X10 sheets of 1/2 inch thickness roughly $10 per sheet are the two i can think of offhand.

Try hanging carpet on 2 adjacent walls. The carpet adsorbs sound and cuts out echos, Heavy draperies around the room will also work.

attempt putting carpet flooring @ on the walls. i imagine being your in an living house soundproofing will be fairly confusing. you are able to muffle the sound yet i'm particular the music will reason vibrations which will annoy below you. reliable luck lol happy i do not stay on your construction

the egg crates or use the things people use on their beds they come in pink....matress pad. glue up on the walls or staple them.
