Standard stretches would be bending forward trying to touch the floor with finger tips (don't touch your toes, but rather six inches in front of the toes. Otherwise you will put your back out of alignment). The same goes if you raising leg out straight in front on a 45 degree angle. You might want to do side stretches. Lean to one side reaching down as if picking up a suitcase and raise far as you can letting opposite arm reach to floor. Back stretch. Bending from waist bend back ward and hold for a few seconds moving side to side. You also might want to do a few lunges. The elliptical is my favorite machine, but prefer Aerobic Dancing.

The stretches mentioned in the second question are good. Just make sure you do a 5 - 10 minute warm-up before you stretch. Ride a stationary bike or walk on the treadmill or something. It's better to stretch warm muscles, stretching "cold" muscles can lead to injury.
