To keep an apple nice, fresh, and not brown you can do the following things:
1. Freeze it in water; put it in a plastic container and place it in the freezer. (this may or may not work because the un-freezing process may spoil the apple.
2. Just place it in the freezer. (no freezing like above)
3. eat the rest.
4. wrap it in a plastic bag and take the air out then put it in the fridge.
those are your options...in essence, there is no other way to spare an apple of its browning because thats nature...and the browning is caused by oxygen which is everywhere. so...yea

Not that this will help you right now, but I met a guy in a knife shop who claimed that when he cut up some apples for a pie with a ceramic knife, they didn't turn brown for over an hour. I guess it has something to do with the reactions of the apple and the steel on the knife. I haven't tested this, jsut something the guy said to me.
