Many of them don`t have even that much of money that they can build up a toilet. And even if they do.... What they will do about the drainage system??? That has to be provided by the government officials & we all know that how the Government officials do their work & that too in a village.

i do agree with most of you..but insted of just watching a show ..why don't we do something about it. if GOVT. is not making any plans .we all should explain and educate government ..may alternative plans but all we our politicians do is make money ..nothing else ..and it's fact..which is very bad effect ..i m sorry to say this but once they get VOTE they don't even come to their are from where they been elected.
now the the doing biz in open ..my frnds also check Ur histories 2 ...all Ur ppl also were doing their biz on streets in past and u don't have 2Nd largest country to handle with population and also it's the world's biggest democratic country. so plz stay where u at and also if it's so yucky ...it's still true that India gave '0" number system to world and still it's no#1 in brain power..no offence 2 NE 1..

Construction of low cost toilet would cost about Rs.2,000/=. The Tamilnadu Government is reluctant to subsidise this. But it is giving free Television and LPG connections to it citizens. It is all mismatched priorities at the planning and decision making level.
But again, in some of the villages the low cost toilets constructed on different partially funded half hearted schemes are being used by the beneficiay for storing firewood or keeping their livestock - hens, sheeps etc.
Habits die hard. Requires lot of efforts; but it is lagging.
Pray God.

The challenge for India is huge. The sewers in Delhi, for instance, were designed for a population of three million. Delhi now has a population of 14 million. The challenge is to provide appropriate, affordable and culturally acceptable toilets. Until this is accomplished the citizens will continue the disgusting practice of doing it where they can. Yuk, is right.

Where could it be pumped to? No septic systems or method of removal. Same problem in Hati (my church group was just there and was grossed out by the same thing.)

If only there had been cops to charge them with heavy fine for spoiling the environment.. things could have been taken care of.
