Antisocial personality disorder is a psychiatric diagnosis. There is indeed such a thing, however it does need to be diagnosed by a qualified psychiatrist.

The disordered individual will have a disregard for social rules and norms, impulsive behaviour, and indifference to the rights and feelings of others.

These individuals' believe their desires justify their actions. They regard themselves as infallible and other peoples' needs and the risks of their conduct are not important.

Such people appear impulsive, irresponsible, and callous, they exploit others, have unstable relationships and are drawn to criminality.

The World Health Organisation uses the name dissocial personality disorder instead.

This disorder has also been called psychopathy or sociopathy.

Having a personal experience of mental health problems, and also knowing many people with personality disorders, I am of the opinion that they do exsist, and are very hard to cope with. I do feel, however, that too many people are 'self diagnosising', and giving themselves labels.

The world of psychiatry is about as advanced as the world of body medicine was 150 years ago. People make up these names for disorders all the time, probably hoping other people in the profession will follow suit & they'll get their name known for having invented the label.

"Anti-social" just means "not nice to know". "Disorder" implies that the personality wasn't always anti-social but became that way.

If somebody referred to me was described as having anti-social personality disorder I'd need to spend a lot of time finding out the specifics of the behaviour & what had caused it. The label wouldn't matter, all that is necessary is that the person recognises there is a problem & wants to change. The truth is that many people who adopt anti-social behaviour patterns did so because they see it as successful behaviour, e.g. bullying.

"Mumbo- jumbo" - haha good word buddy! thumbs up.
I'm pretty sure its not like a disease or anything, it just means you dont like people very much and dont like to engage in personal discussion with anyone.
you mostly keep to yourself.
i have undies that say "anti-social, go away" on them.
but i consider it a joke.
